SHOPPERS have camped overnight for the chance to win electrical goods at the launch of a new supermarket.
Aldi in Cowdray Avenue opens for the first time this morning and the first 100 shoppers in the queue stand a chance of winning a 48-inch Ultra HD TV, a four camera CCTV Kit and dual power carpet cleaner, among other prizes.
Eager shoppers lined up outside the store before the doors opened at 8am.
Olympic gold medallist Saskia Clark is handing out the winning envelopes at the store for the golden ticket event.
Colchester mayor, Julie Young, opened the new Aldi alongside store manager, Mike Reeve, and the Team GB star.
A DJ is hosting the launch and there is hot food on offer for customers.
A total of 40 jobs have been created at the 1,476sq m store, which stands at the former Staples site.
