A YOUNGSTER from Clacton experienced the thrill of a lifetime by hitting the back of the net at Barcelona’s famous Nou Camp stadium.

Budding star Jaidan Smith emulated Barcelona heroes Neymar, Messi and Luis Suarez when he scored with a stunning strike in Spain.

Jaidan travelled to take part in the prestigious tournament with his Eight Ash Green under-10 Blues team.

They put up a good showing, taking on teams from across the country on the hallowed Nou Camp turf inside the stunning stadium.

Getting to play at the ground was a thrill – but Holland Park Primary pupil Jaidan went one better by scoring to help send his team through to the final.

Eight Ash Green Youth FC owner Dean Heap said: “We took two under-10 teams over and they had a brilliant time.

“It was a really proud moment for all of them just to be playing there. It’s an incredible place.

“I led the boys out and I had goosebumps.

“It was a low scoring tournament, and only three boys from that side managed to score.

“Jaidan was one of them and it was very special moment, for him, his family watching and the team.

“It was an absolute smasher of a goal. He has been playing on the wing for us but he has a real eye for goal and finished it so well.”

Jaidan’s Eight Ash Green under-10s eventually finished as tournament runners-up, falling just short in the final.

Mr Heap added: “They gave a great account of themselves and it’s something they will all remember for the rest of their lives.

“It’s one thing playing there but scoring is something else. What an unbelievable moment.

“Jaidan has been with us for a long time and his younger brother is playing with us too now. It’s a lovely family.

“He’s a good lad who works hard and trains hard. He’s a little superstar and scoring a goal like that at the Nou Camp is a reward for all that hard work.

“His family came out to watch as well and I think they enjoyed seeing it almost as much as he enjoyed scoring.

“It was the trip and experience of a lifetime and we were proud to be able to organise it for everyone.”

The Nou Camp was built in 1957 and at 99,354 seats is the biggest stadium in Europe.
