THUGS broke an elderly man's hip after smashing their way into a house in a morning robbery.

Police want to hear from anyone with information about a robbery which took place in Beach Way, Jaywick between 9am and 9.15am on Friday November 27.

Two men had called at the home of an elderly couple.

When the man, aged 88, answered the door they burst into the house, knocking him to the floor. 

They then carried out a quick search before taking cash and leaving.

The victim suffered a fractured hip and has needed hospital treatment.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Jules Cole said: "This was an horrendous experience for the victim to be attacked in his own home like this and suffer such serious injuries.

"This crime has appalled the local community, I want to find and arrest these two men as soon as possible and would appeal for anyone with information which could help to get in touch.

"Both suspects were wearing all black clothes, with hooded coats and black shoes.

"They were both described as skinny and around 5ft 7in to 5ft 8in tall.”
