A REVAMPED sports centre, which had £500,000 spent on refurbishment and improvements, was officially reopened on Thursday.
Maldon District Council invested half a million pound into the centre, in partnership with contractor Places for People Management, which runs the centre.
Council chairman Peter Elliot, accompanied by community services chairman Ron Pratt, officially cut the ribbon to open the centre, in Millfields, Burnham, which is houses a gym and trampolining, gymnastics and badminton clubs, among other activities.
Councillor Ron Pratt said the re-opening marked the final part of investment in leisure facilities in the district, following the £1.5million refurbishment of Blackwater Leisure Centre, Maldon.
He said: “The much needed refurbishments which have been completed will ensure that the Dengie Hundred Sports Centre is able to continue to offer the users the best possible facilities for Burnham and the surrounding area.”
