FAMILIES had fun in the forest at an event in High Woods Country Park in Colchester.

The event was organised by volunteer ranger Anat Vernitski, as she wanted to create a countryside social event for parents and children.

Children could play in the forest and pick chestnuts at the event which runs on the third Friday of each month.

Annie Feltham, Colchester Council's portfolio holder for communities and leisure services, said: “Playing in nature is a great thing for children to be able to do.

“It’s exciting for them to be able to run around out of doors and there’s a lot to learn.

"Anat has done a fantastic job setting up Forest Fun, where parents and kids can play together in one of the most beautiful areas of Colchester.”

The next Forest Fun day will be on Friday, December 18 and all are welcome.
