COVERT gardeners have added floral cheer to one of Colchester’s busiest roundabouts.
Mystery residents have put bedding plants on the Rovers Tye roundabout in Ipswich Road with a small sign claiming credit for their craftiness.
But they've stopped short of fully identifying themselves, in a move echoing that of the town's Human Shrub.
The Shrub became a thorn in the side of Colchester Council in 2009 when he objected to plans to remove shrubs from around the town to save money.
The eco-warrior won national recognition with a number of stunts and, with the public outcry, persuaded Colchester Council to think again.
In February this year the Human Shrub appeared to have returned when he sent a dirty envelope to Dave Harris, Colchester councillor for Berechurch, which contained 30 packets of seeds.
Paul Smith, St John's Ward councillor, said: “The roundabout is looking considerably better, but it is up to the individual concerned if they wish to claim credit for their actions.”
