A SEASIDE bungalow is set for a dramatic makeover overseen by a top British designer.
The redesign of the property in Wick Lane, Dovercourt has been masterminded by Grand Design finalist Tony Holt, at the request of homeowner Craig Parks.
The unique changes to the property will see the reversal of the living and bedroom spaces to maximise the coastal views available and a dramatic firstfloor extension.
Work was given the full planning approval by the Planning Inspectorate after Tendring Council had initially rejected the proposals last year.
Mr Holt is hoping it could spark a trend of top-quality houses in Dovercourt and the surrounding areas, along with Grayson Perry’s dream house in Wrabness.
Construction is expected to start next year and the project has already featured in Home Building and Renovation magazine.
Mr Holt said: “I wouldn’t say it has been a nightmare trying to get this under way, but there have been some problems. But, eventually, we got it through on appeal.
“In the government’s local planning policy framework, there is a section which says homes should not be rejected on the basis of innovation and design.
“As soon as people start taking a little more care, other people can then do the same and it raises the level of design in an area.”
