GOLF club members teed off for a marathon 15-hour session to raise cash for charity.

A ladies’ team and a men’s team, each made up of four club members, took to the Frinton course for the gruelling session to boost Macmillan Cancer Support.

They started at 4.30am and completed a whopping 72 holes by 7.30pm.

Spectators followed their progress throughout the day and offered encouragement to keep the exhausted golfers going.

Club spokeswoman Jeanne Nokes said: “They played the first 36 holes with only a short break.

“Lots of members followed the players around the course, the pace was fast and there was no flagging.

“At the end, all the competitors appeared none the worse for wear and want to thank all players, caddies, spectators and generous contributors for their support.”

The players raised more than £3,500 with their marathon effort.
