A CAMPAIGNER who lives next to a “dangerous” junction in Clacton has called for a pedestrian crossing to be installed after a pensioner was involved in a collision with a car.

The crash victim, a woman in her 80s from Clacton, was injured on Saturday as she crossed Ellis Road.

She was taken to Colchester General Hospital for further care, with her injuries described as “serious”.

Nearby residents have been complaining about the junction between West Avenue and Ellis Road for years.

After the latest incident, they want a pedestrian crossing installed, as well as seeing the lines re-painted to make the junction clearer to drivers.

Les Baker, of Ellis Road, said: “This latest incident was a nasty one.

“This area is still lethal to pedestrians, especially the elderly and the very young, and we really need to have a crossing in place."
