DRIVERS have been warned speed cameras along two stretches of the A12 are now operational.
Average speed cameras have been installed either side of Colchester between Kelvedon and Witham and at Hughes Corner in both directions.
The limit is 70mph other than on the stretch around Hughes Corner where roadworks remain - where the limit is 40mph.
The Kelvedon stretch, run by Highways England, cost £840,000 and is designed to combat the congestion suffered by motorists in the area.
The Hughes Corner scheme cost £740,000.
Over-running roadworks in this area are continuing to have an impact on journey times.
The number of tickets already issued has not yet been revealed.
