AMOTORIST says he could have been seriously injured after a large lump of concrete was thrown at his car on his way home from work.

First Bus driver John Williams was leaving the depot in Telford Road, Clacton, to go home when his Peugeot 106 was targeted by yobs.

“I went up to the Stephenson Road roundabout and bang – a lump of concrete hit the window,” said Mr Williams, of Dovercourt.

“There is a piece of open land there with an earth bank around it. I presume the yobbos were hiding behind.

“I carried on driving, but as soon as I was clear of the area I stopped and rang the police. The concrete has permanently etched itself into the glass.”

Mr Williams drove back and picked up what he believes to be the missile the next day.

“There were two fist-sized pieces of concrete and I’m sure one of those is what hit my car,” he said.

“It was very, very frightening.

“There is no doubt that if the concrete had smashed the driver’s window, it would have struck my head.

“The noise was so loud – it’s a wonder that it didn’t break the glass.”

The incident happened on May 5 and has been reported to the police.
