A DISUSED store room has been transformed into an £8,000 "safe room" for children at an after school club with special needs and behavioural issues.
Mistley Kids Club, at the village hall in Furze Hill, has had the new safe room built to give some of the 140 children with special and additional needs an area to calm down when needed.
The room, padded from floor to ceiling, has also been kitted out with sensory lights and calming music.
Clarie Moss, Kids Club manager, said: "This is going to be a major benefit to our children.
"When they have a moment they sometimes bash their heads against the walls, sometime the children can be quite severe.
"It's amazing to have a room for these children to go to.
"It's a safe place for the children with music and lighting - it helps to calm them down."
