THEY may not quite be the real thing, but that has not stopped tribute band Only One Direction performing to more than 250,000 fans over the past three years.

The boys recreate the charisma, energy and enthusiasm of the famous five with a stunning show that features songs from all four of One Direction’s smash-hit albums, including What Makes You Beautiful, Story of My Life, Best Song Ever, Midnight Memories and Steal My Girl.

They formed in early 2012 as the world’s first One Direction tribute band and were soon performing up to seven shows a week in Britain and Europe.

The lads became so popular that they expanded to create two lineups, and then had to add a third to meet international demand.

Described as a “super tribute” act, they now put on a full scale production show that has wowed audiences, with bags of audience participation, giveaways and a meet-and-greet.

This year, they are busier than ever, playing a UK theatre tour that brings them to Clacton next week, as well as heading to the UAE, USA, and festival bookings.

Zayn Malik stunned the world by leaving the real One Direction last week, with the band becoming a four-piece. But Only One Direction will continue touring with five members, including its Zayn lookalike.

The boys are at the West Cliff Theatre, Tower Road, on April 3 at 7pm. Tickets cost £16.50 (£13.50 students and under-16s, £51 family ticket) on 01255 433344.
