WORK to transform a seafront tourist attraction with an investment of up to £30,000 will start next month.

The Putting Green, in Lower Marine Parade, Dovercourt, will be givenamajor boost by the work, which is set to be completed by the summer.

Harwich Town Council is footing the bill, but will recoup the money from developers’ contributions to the town as part of planning permissions.

The putting kiosk will be replaced and redeveloped into an information bureau for visitors, and a new picnic area will also be set up.

Work will begin on April 13, when the old kiosk will be demolished.

Councillor Charlie Powell, who is chairman of the putting green working party, said: “I am over the moon.”
