An amazingly round egg has raised a cracking amount for charity after being auctioned on ebay.

Kim Broughton has been left shell-shocked after selling the egg for a staggering £480 to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Housewife Mrs Broughton, of Latchingdon, keeps 15 hens and very nearly ate the egg before a friend suggested she should auction it.

Speaking of the total raised, Mrs Broughton said: “It’s unbelievable considering I was so close to making a pancake with it.”

In total there were 64 bids for the egg after the auction ended last Friday.

Money is being donated to the trust in memory of former Plume School pupil Kristian Long, who had suffered with cystic fibrosis since birth and sadly died in 2013 at the age of 19.
