CARE home bosses are set to close facilities in Frinton and Walton while plunging £450,000 into a huge home upgrade.

The Pilgrims’ Friend Society, which runs care homes across the country, plans to close and sell part of its Ernest Luff site in Luff Way, Walton.

The Ernest Luff home and Hewitt House centre will both be sold, but the bungalows, Luff Mews assisted living apartments and Olive Luff care home will remain open.

The Christian charity closed down Frinton’s Anna Victoria nursing home just before Christmas last year after struggling to recruit enough nurses to keep it going.

That disused site will also now be sold. Some of the proceeds from the sales will be put into a huge £450,000 extension and revamp of the Olive Luff care home.
