A HEART ATTACK survivor has thanked the off-duty paramedic who helped save his life.
Stephanie Woolley, a paramedic for the East of England Ambulance Service, performed chest compressions on Frank Halter after he collapsed during a water exercise class at Aqua Springs in Colchester.
The 36-year-old from Wix lept into action when Frank had a heart attack on September 17. He was later transferred to Basildon Hospital, where he spent three weeks recovering.
Stephanie and Frank met last week when he presented her with a bunch of flowers as a thank-you.
Frank, of Greenstead in Colchester, said: “It makes me realise how fragile my life is and how happy I am to be here."
Stephanie was also recognised at the East of England Ambulance Service Trust Excellence Awards, where she was given a Chief Officer Commendation for helping Mr Halter.
