EXTRA police patrols have been put in place after two teenage boys were accosted in Clacton.

Police said they are investigating a number of reported incidents of accostings and suspicious behaviour in the area.

Chief Insp Russ Cole, district commander, said he will ensure uniformed officers patrol the area.

"The extra patrols are in place to reassure the public as the weekend and the half term holidays begin," he said.

“We are asking parents and children to remain vigilant.”

Officers began their investigation following two incidents on Saturday, October 18, during which teenage boys were accosted by a man.

The first incident took place at around 6.30pm near an alleyway off Dudley Road. The second took place at about 9pm at Coppins Road.

A 53-year-old man, from Colchester, was arrested by police on Friday in connection with the incidents and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries until October 25.

Anybody with any information about the incidents is asked to contact Essex Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
