PEOPLE can dedicate a Christmas tree decoration to a loved one in a charity appeal.

St Helena Hospice has launched its Tree of Memories Christmas Appeal for the second year running.

For the campaign, people make a donation and receive a bauble-shaped card to hang on Christmas trees in the hospice, the Joan Tomkins Centre or the Tendring Day Centre.

The trees will be on display throughout the festive period, from December 15 to January 3, and the hospice will host two memorial services on December 17 and 18.

The hospice’s chaplain Trevor Walt said: “For many people, Christmas represents a time when we are very conscious of absent friends and family members.

“Tree of Memories offers an opportunity for us to write a personal message of remembrance.

“The trees themselves are an uplifting sight, looking absolutely wonderful decorated with the colourful bauble tags.”

Last year, the fundraiser raised more than £17,000 for the cause.
