A new band who formed less than three months have made it on to a top radio station that boasts 10.8 million listeners every week.
Ben Club, a “bubblegum rock” group from Manningtree, have not even played a gig yet.
But on Tuesday night, they got rare chance to appear on national station Radio 1.
Their one minute and 32 seconds in the spotlight were part of the Huw Stephens show, which airs from 10pm and includes new, emerging music stars.
Ben Brown, who set up the band with his younger brother Alex, girlfriend Krista and best friend Ben Ward, said it was an amazing surprise.
“We didn’t even know it was going to happen.
“It was insane – completely surreal.”
The band now have their first gig at St Jude’s Brewery, in Ipswich, on November 14.
