A MOTHER has spoken of her shock after her daughter was knocked down by a car which ran through a red light.
Carol Wrenn’s daughter Toni was hit while walking over the Main Road at the pelican crossing close to Asda and Harwich and Parkeston Football Club at approximately 8pm on Saturday September 6.
The driver was heading in the direction of the town centre and went through a red light.
Luckily Toni, 20, has escaped with just bruising but Mrs Wrenn believes she has been incredibly fortunate.
“Somehow she barely has a scratch on her and is just feeling achy and has lots of bruising. She has been very lucky,” she said.
“She waited until the green man was showing like she has always done before but she got some way across and was then knocked over.
“A First Responder arrived very quickly and even though it was his first week in the job he was absolutely brilliant with Toni because they knew each other already."
A police spokesman confirmed the driver is being investigated for a motoring offence.
