ORGANISERS are hoping the 160th anniversary of the Guy Carnival will be bigger and better than ever before.
Bands, floats, clubs and groups are being asked to participate in the procession on October 25.
The organisers of the annual spectacular also need help to oversee the safe running of the event.
A meeting is being held to discuss the plans. It will take place at the Hanover Inn in Church Street, on September 3 from 8pm.
Greg Bloss, of Harwich and Dovercourt Rotary club, which organises the event, said: “The Harwich Guy Carnival is celebrating its 160th anniversary this year.
“We are hoping that this year's carnival will be bigger and better but we need your help.”
In June concerns were raised about the future of the carnival amid fears there were not enough marshals to enable the safe passage of the procession.
Prior to 2001 the carnival was marshalled by the police but now the Rotary relies on members of the public to come forward.
