A new group promoting real ale and community pubs has launched this week.

Members of the Maldon and Dengie Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) branch are launching their youth group at Maldon’s annual beer festival.

The group, which is for people aged 18 to 30 interested in real ale, are recruiting new members.

Micah Cox, 26, of Washington Road, Maldon, set up the group and said: “The under 35s are the biggest growing denomination of people buying and drinking ale, even compared to five years ago.

“There’s even brewers making beer just for our age group.

“Maldon has many pubs and there are four excellent brewers in the area, so we thought lets get out there and show we are responsible drinkers and support and celebrate what pubs are all about.”
