Firemen taught young people with Down's Syndrome about fire safety in a ‘fantastic’ special Firebreak course at Maldon Fire Station.
The four day long course was aimed at improving the youngsters confidence through taking on challenging tasks.
The 13 participants used the powerful fire hose reels, wore specialist breathing apparatus and climbed up ladders to rescue people trapped in smoke logged rooms.
The tasks were designed to show the value of team work and responsibility in the young people that took part.
