WORLD famous gardening author Dr David Hessayon has denied tabloid rumours he is "tired of gardening", but says he is still writing new books.
The Halstead resident has sold about 50 million of his garden Expert books since he started exactly 50 years ago, and is famous for shunning the limelight.
National newspapers this week quoted Dr Hessayon, 80, as saying he was tired of gardening, but he told the Halstead Gazette he had been misquoted, and his output showed how much his interest remains.
He said: "What I said, and what they have put in is quite different. With gardening, I have done it all my life but now I'm 80 I am not really doing a great deal myself.
"I don't think there's anything which is as therapeutic and relaxing as gardening to get you away from everything.
