Fire in village pub

Firefighters were called to pub fire in which two people were thought trapped.

Eight fire engines were called to the Old Anchor pub, Feering Hill, Feering, yesterday **13/7*but accounted for everyone there.

The 10m x 10m building had smoke coming from its roof and the first floor was heavily smoke logged.

Officer in charge of the incident, Assistant Divisional Officer Lee Lucas said: "The fire has considerably damaged the pub including the roof, it is unknown at this stage what caused the fire and an investigation will take place."

They were called at 2.46am and it was extinguished by 6.14am.
