A group of scooter riders kitted out in clothing from a Halstead shop took centre stage at Sunday’s Olympic closing ceremony.
It was a break from the usual Sunday routine for members of the Braintree Breakfast Scooter Club as they prepared for the ride of their lives.
The club, which normally meets up for coffee at a Braintree cafe, rode out to a standing ovation into London’s Olympic Stadium during Sunday night’s ceremony.
It was the culmination of months of secrecy for the riders, who had to sign contracts preventing them from telling friends about what they would be doing.
The group are regulars at Going Underground, the retro clothing shop, in The Centre, Halstead.
