A man has been arrested in connection with two overnight car break-ins.
Police officers were called to reports that a wallet, mobile phone and tools had all been stolen from a car parked along Halstead Road in Earls Colne.
A few hours later a man reported that his car had also been broken into along Shut Lane and three bags of scuba equipment had been taken.
The equipment was later recovered.
The two break-ins took place overnight on Wednesday, December 20.
Essex Police have confirmed a 46-year-old man from Clacton was arrested on suspicion of theft and fraud by false presentation on Monday, January 8.
The man has since been released on bail until Sunday, February 2.
