A GREEK airline has touched down at Stansted Airport for the first time.
Air Mediterranean will be operating four trips to and from the airport a week after reaching an agreement with bosses at Stansted.
The airline's first flight to land in the UK received a warm welcome on Thursday as passengers were handed cup cakes upon arrival by entertainers dressed in ancient Greek dress and representatives from Stansted Airport.
London Stansted’s Aviation Director, Mats Sigurdson, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Air Mediterranean to London Stansted as they launch their first UK services.
"This is great news and adds even more choice of airline to the already extensive European network on offer at the airport.”
A return ticket to Athens with Air Mediterranean start from £135 and includes allocated seating, a 23 kg baggage allowance and complimentary in-flight meals.
