There are four new starters at Hedingham School this year, who are all a little different.

They are all past students of Hedingham School who have decided to pursue a career in teaching and are either training at the school they attended themselves or starting as qualified teachers back in front of the classroom they once sat in.

Nathan Hope, Georgina Johnson, Lisa Turner and Stacey Thrussell have all returned to the school.

A Hedingham spokesman said: "We would like to wish Nathan, Lisa, Georgina and Stacey very happy and fulfilling careers as teachers at Hedingham School and we are delighted to have them back with us.

"These four past students join teacher Mr Jack Lockley who trained last year at the school to teach ICT having been a student at the school for 7 years and Miss Katie Archer who was also a past student and recently trained at the school to be a Maths teacher.

"Leader of Media Studies, Mr Rory Hyde, KS4 Assistant Mrs Rosanne Archer and Network Manager Mr Stuart Jarvis are all also past students of Hedingham School.

"The Exams Officer, Mrs Sally Stimpson, Sixth Form Assistant, Angela Robinson, Data Assistant Mrs Cindy Matthews, Caretaker Mr David Bird and Teaching Assistant Mrs Julie Roach all also attended Hedingham School as students together with cleaners at the school Grace Baldwin and Zoe Buckland.

"There can’t be many schools that can boast so many ex-students on their staff – all proof that Hedingham School really is a good place to study and work."

Nathan Hope, who left in 2014, was Head Boy at Hedingham and went on to read History and Politics at the University of Sussex.

His passion for these subjects made him want to teach and try to instil a love for these subjects in future generations of students.

Georgina Richardson was a student at the school until 2010 and then came back last year to work as a cover supervisor whilst finishing her degree in Creative Writing and English Literature at Anglia Ruskin University.

Her love of English, together with her skills in the classroom, were quickly noticed and Georgina was asked to train at the school in the English department from this September onwards.

Lisa Turner, who has always had the ambition to be a Geography teacher, has worked at Hedingham for the last 2 years as a teaching assistant to gain experience in working with children, after completing her degree in Human Geography at Leeds Metropolitan University.

It was the right direction for her to gain experience to be a teacher and helped her to realise how much she wanted to help children to really achieve, and maybe even enjoy school, just as she did.

Stacey Thrussell left school in 2003 and worked in a number of jobs whilst studying for a degree in Human Geography through the Open University.

She completed her studies and then, inspired by her teachers at school in the Humanities Department and also the work she had seen her mother do with young people, Stacey decided to teach.

She trained last year, combining this with looking after her young family, and she is now excited by the opportunity to teach back in her old school.
