A COUNCIL has praised a planning inspector for turning down a developer’s bid to reverse the decision over a 65 home development in open countryside.
Gladman Developments appealed against Braintree Council’s decision to reject proposals for the homes at land off of Finchingfield Road, Steeple Bumpstead.
Planning inspector Julia Gregory dismissed the appeal Wednesday.
Lynette Bowers-Flint, Braintree Councillor responsible for planning and housing, said: “We are pleased with the Inspector’s decision to dismiss this appeal. The decision supports the District Council’s judgement that the impact of the development on the setting of the Grade I listed church and Conservation Area, as well as the detriment to a valued landscape, were clear grounds for resisting the development at this location.”
