The application to build 205 houses, and an undetermined number of care apartments, on the fields off Sudbury Road will be decided on Tuesday 12 September at 7.15 pm at Braintree Council Offices.

The Planning Officer has recommended this site for approval, so unless we can convince the Planning Councillors that this site is unsuitable, Halstead will be facing yet more development.

It is likely that construction would be underway at Oak Road and Sudbury Road at the same time, and possibly even at Colchester Road, meaning utter chaos and a poorer quality of life for us all.

If you have EVER struggled to get a doctor’s appointment, sat in excessively heavy traffic through town, or failed to get a place for your child at school, you know the town is struggling already. This will only get worse if this development is approved – WE NEED TO ACT NOW!

It is critical that we show Braintree District Council the strength of feeling in Halstead, and the only way to have any chance of this is to fill the meeting room on Tuesday evening.

Braintree Council Offices are located at Causeway House, Bocking End, Braintree CM7 9HB (near Argos), and there is plenty of parking on site.

If you are attending the meeting and have spaces in your car, please ask your friends and neighbours if they will come along too.

If anyone would like to go but is unable to get to Braintree, please contact us at together@handsoffhalstead.co.uk, or through our Facebook page, and we will do our very best to help.

Please don’t think that you don’t need to attend on Tuesday as other people will go to the meeting, or that this is a lost cause and there is no point turning up.

If we give up now, we’ll never know if we could have won, and we’ll have to live with the effects forever.

Thank you, as ever, for your support.
