A DRAMATIC society is set to host open auditions for an upcoming production.

Sudbury Dramatic Society’s November production at The Quay Theatre is Invincible by Torben Betts, a powerful drama with many comic flourishes, which had a successful London run in 2014 and toured nationally in 2016 and again earlier this year.

Set in 2012; amidst the flag waving fervour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics, one middle class London couple find the costs of living in the capital too much to bear and decide to downsize and downshift their life to a small town in the north of England.

To try and break the ice and integrate themselves with their new surroundings, Emily and Oliver invite their neighbours Dawn and Alan round for ‘drinks and nibbles’.

A catastrophic evening ensues as class and culture collide in a mix of tragic and hilarious consequences.

Four very different roles; with two couples in their mid to late thirties struggling to make sense of each other in a classic class divide situation, Invincible offers four performers an interesting challenge.

Invincible is directed by Mark Scanlon, who directed the successful Ladies Day earlier this year.

He said: "Invincible is a powerful yet very funny modern drama with four roles of around equal size. Think Alan Ayckbourn combined with John Godber with a bit of Mike Leigh thrown in and you’re in the right area for Invincible."

Open Auditions for Invincible are being held at the Quay Theatre on Monday 24th July at 7.30pm.

Scripts and audition pieces are available now for short term loan from the Quay Theatre Box Office, online at www.sudburydramatic.com or by contacting Mark via sudburydramatic@gmail.com.
