A HEADTEACHER has praised everyone involved with a school after a much improved Ofsted report.

Colne Engaine Primary School has boosted its rating from “requires improvement” to “good”, even achieving outstanding in one area.

The latest report was published today with the inspector appreciating a host of improvements since the school was last inspected in 2015.

The school, off Green Farm Road, was rated outstanding in evolving pupils’ personal development and welfare.

Headteacher Julie Sarti is praised for her “passionate and visionary leadership” and teaching teams commended for their “consistently high expectations of pupils’ work and what they can achieve”.

The report recognises “pupils thrive in a climate of care where they feel safe and are valued as individuals”.

It states: “They are challenged and supported in equal measure to be the best they can.”

Ms Sarti said: “We are delighted with the report, which captures our ethos and vision.

“It pays tribute to the commitment and dedication of a wonderful team, who have our children at the heart of everything.

“We are immensely proud of our children and we will continue to work on making sure that they are well supported and that their learning experiences are enriching and rewarding.”

The report states children make good progress across a wide range of subjects and are particularly strong in writing and in handling numbers in mathematics.

Reading and phonics are taught effectively and the school is praised for “placing strong emphasis on teaching science and on developing scientific knowledge and understanding.”

The curriculum focuses on developing the “whole child” resulting in well-rounded youngsters who are confident, self-assured, thoughtful and prepared for future life.

Areas for improvement were also included in the report around mathematics and reading within the positive report.
