CONCERNS over access to a potential development have been backed by Halstead Town Council.
Gladman Developments has applied to build 205 homes off Sudbury Road, initially proposing access from Sudbury Road, Winston Way and Tylneys Road.
On Essex Highways’ recommendation, access from Sudbury Road has been removed, a move which has only angered residents, as well as the town council.
Chair of planning, David Humes, said: “There isn’t much to say, but it is astonishing.”
While Dave Gronland labelled the changes ‘outrageous’, and Eilleen Penn stated : “There are quite a few accidents there, without the addition of more cars.
Two weeks ago the Gazette revealed residents, parents, and teachers were concerned over the safety of pupils at St Andrews Primary School.
Calls have been made for reduced speeds in Mortons Way and Matthews Close, which neighbour Winston Way and Tylneys Road.
The town council lodged an objection the the changes, reiterating their strong objections to the original plans, adding serious concerns over access.
