THE PARENTS of a baby boy who died from a number of defects are proud of their fundraising efforts.

Victoria and Ashley Jones, from Halstead, said goodbye to five-month-old George in February.

The couple, of Conies Road, were advised to terminate the pregnancy as some of George's organs were growing outside his body.

Their miracle baby was born in August, but died after a long battle.

The couple are continuing to fundraise for the Sick Childrens' Trust, the charity that supported them

Mrs Jones said: "We raised £1,122 at a barn dance in Lawford, we were shocked when we counted it all up at the end of the night.

"We had a raffle and a silent auction for a homemade cake and bunch of flowers.

"It went really well, everyone said they enjoyed themselves and would love to come again if we organised another."

Ashley is due to take part in a 66-mile walk on Saturday, and said he would take part dressed at Tinkerbell if £1,000 is made by then.

He said he was excited but nervous about the walk around the Isle of Wight.

He has already said he would walk the first few miles in fairy wings.

Mrs Jones said: "We feel the fundraising is going really well, better than we thought it was going to go in such a short space of time.

"We have further fundraisers planned to help us reach our life-long target of £25,000."
