RESIDENTS are invited to attend a charity basketball tournament in aid of Red Nose Day.

Braintree Basketball Club will be hosting the charity match at Gosfield School tomorrow evening.

Along with food, a raffle and competitions, the tournament will kick off at 8pm.

Emma Gauntlett, of Braintree Basketball Club, said: “We've contacted the local schools in the area to put up posters and the plan is to hold a charity tournament between teams to raise money for Red Nose Day.

"The Essex Outlaws, our county wheelchair basketball team, are also coming along to support and also demonstrate and give people a chance to try it out."

“Braintree Basketball Club was founded in 2012 by Dean Gilder. Dean attended Alec Hunter High School before leaving to train as a PE teacher.

“During his time there he began an all ages after school basketball club which proved popular. This has since grown into a competitive sports club with three junior and three senior teams.”

It costs £3 to enter the tournament at Gosfield School on Friday from 6pm to 10pm.
