SUDBURY Dramatic Society is back with what is sure to be another blockbuster performance.

The talented group will take on Ladies’ Day by Amanda Whittington.

This popular play, recreated by theatre groups across the country, is a hilarious mix of Calender Girls and Dinner Ladies.

Ladies’ Day was developed under the trusty wing of the highly respected Hull Truck Theatre Company, so if you like their work, you’re in for a treat.

The play is an exuberant comedy about four likely lasses from the Hull fish docks on a day trip to the races.

Work, love and life are one long, hard slog for the fish-filleting foursome Pearl, Jan, Shelley and Linda.

But their fortunes are set to change when Linda finds tickets to Ladies’ Day at Royal Ascot the year it relocated to York.

Work overalls and hairnets are replaced by posh frocks and hats as the intrepid foursome set themselves up for a drink, a flirt and flutter.

If they play their cards right, they could hit the jackpot, but things don’t quite turn out how they expect.

A talented cast sees Lucy Foster take on the role of Pearl, Helen Arbon as Jan, Shelley will be played by Kat Wilson and Sarah Byham will play Linda.

The three men involved have taken on the challenge of playing duel roles, with Richard Fawcett playing both Joe and Kevin, Jim and Barry played by Joseph James, and Nick Elliot will take on Fred and Patrick.

Mark Scanlon will be in the director’s chair.

Sudbury Dramatic Society have become renowned in the area for a host of impressive shows.

They are the resident group for Sudbury’s Quay Theatre, and it is not unusual to see the theatre packed out when they take the stage.

The society have recently wowed audiences with performances of The Tempest, Gaslight and the hugely funny Bazaar and Rummage.

They will perform from March 7 to 11 at 7.45pm each night. Tickets are £10, or £9 on Wednesday. Visit www.
