LAST Thursday, my wife and I went to Colchester on the 88 bus and passed the morning shopping, with a snack at lunchtime.

As we returned to Halstead I began to feel rather hot and undid my coat.

The next thing I remember, I was lying on the bus floor with a lovely young lady holding my hand and encouraging me to come round.

I found out afterwards that this same young lady, noticing I had slumped in my seat, notified the driver, who stopped the bus near the entrance to Tey Road in Earls Colne and called the emergency services.

Most of the other passengers lived locally and kindly offered to walk home.

A second young lady also stayed on the bus in case her help was needed.

When the ambulance arrived I was taken to A&E at Colchester and I failed to take a note of anyone’s identity. May I, through the Halstead Gazette, thank everyone involved, the bus driver and the other passengers but especially the young ladies who stayed with my wife and I throughout.

I am pleased to say that, after a series of tests, the doctors agreed that it was probably due to becoming overheated, and I was allowed to return home.

Thankfully I have suffered no further ill effects.
