LAND for a development of 23 homes will be added to the district's Local Plan.

Two new sites have been submitted for consideration in Wethersfield- Land at West Drive and land at Hudsons Hill.

At a Local Plan Committee meeting on Monday, a spokesman representing the developer said the sites were supported by the parish council.

He also suggested a village green could be incorporated into the larger development at West Drive, as well as a small public car park.

Nine of the homes within the development would be affordable.

A further five homes were put forward for Hudsons Hill.

It was recommended the West Drive site was put forward, but planning officers were sceptical about the smaller development being unnatural.

However councillors, including John O'Reilly Cicconi, were in support of the five-home development.

He said: "It has the full support of the parish council which is a major point in its favour.

"There is a possibility of improving the recreational site next door, so I'm in favour of including it."

It was agreed the development boundary would be changed to include part of the smaller site, and the site at West Drive was also approved.
