A HALSTEAD business is looking to expand its site and increase production.

The owner of Bolts Building Supplies, on Bluebridge Industrial Estate, has applied to build three new buildings on the site.

Two of the new buildings will be used as additional storage and production space, while the third and largest building will be used as a trade counter and office space.

Halstead Town Council has backed the bid, which would create four new jobs.

Bolts Building Supplies owners Harlow Brothers wants to increase business and production supplies on the site.

Chris Whitlock, managing director of Harlow Brothers, said: “We acquired Bolts Building Supplies last October, so we are approaching our one-year anniversary and at the moment it seems like a good investment by us.

"We have received increased business from the site so we are hopeful of increasing production on the site.

“The planning permission is essentially for the three new buildings, one will be used for production, one for storage, and the third will be a mix of storage, office space, and a trade counter.

“With increased business, we want to increase what is on offer, and hopefully the expansion will do this, as well as adding a trade counter to add a new service to the business.”

The planning application states: “The application is to erect three new, cold formed steel, buildings to the west and the north of the existing office and warehouse.

"The new showroom will give the company something it currently cannot provide to their customers and that being an area to view finished products.”

The final planning decision rests with Braintree Council.
