INVESTIGATIONS are ongoing into the death of a toddler after he was attacked by a dog.
An inquest opened for Dexter Neal, from Halstead, at the Coroners' Court in Chelmsford on Friday.
The three-year-old, from Ronald Road, was attacked by an American Bulldog at a friends' house in Parker Way on August 18.
Coroners' officer Jemma Cook said: "He sadly died at Addenbrooke's Hospital.
"This three-year-old was playing at a friends' house with a dog.
"A post-mortem was carried out at Great Ormond Street Hospital and the provisional cause of death is pending further investigation."
There is no initial cause of death and no inquest date has yet been set.
