LOVE was in the air for one couple as they boarded a plane at Earls Colne airfield.

Glen Prentice took to the skies with one thing in mind – asking Rachel Last to marry him.

The couple have been together for just six months, but will tie the knot within a year.

Glen, 42, said: “I wanted it to be memorable, something a little bit special that we could remember, rather than one of your more standard proposals.

“I had been trying to think of a way to ask her for a while, but nothing quite seemed right, then I came up with this idea.

"I have had one flying lesson from here before and remembered the route goes over our area, so that adds something a little bit more special to it.

"I like to think I am quite a romantic kind of guy, so I am just thankful she said yes.”

As part of his plan to keep Rachel in the dark, Glen, from Ipswich, convinced her she was doing a bungee jump.

The bride-to-be said: “To start with I was just relieved that he wasn’t making me do a bungee jump.

“I never expected it at all, I was in complete shock.

“I still am in shock, I really was speechless, I still am speechless.

“It is by far the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for me. “There was no way I could say no.”

The airfield is becoming a hot-spot for marriage proposals.

This year alone there have been three.
