COMPUTER whizzes have been working hard on creating a virtual world resembling their school.

The coding club at Earls Colne Primary School has regular meet ups to build an online school programme.

Governors and parents visited the school on Monday, July 11 to look around and take part in the online lessons on the computers.

Neil Woodcock, deputy head at the school in Park Lane, said: "A large part of our curriculum now is coding, so we have been working with a software engineer using a programme called Scratch and we have made our own apps that mimic school lessons.

"They had an app which represented a secretary so people had to register as they came in, they also did grammar and maths lessons.

"They even had an app for lunch and a swimming lesson app.

"The children loved it, they have been doing it as an after school club for a few months and all really enjoy it. There has been lots of teamwork."
