Not content with a great learning environment in school, Richard de Clare School took their learning out of the classroom when they held a parent workshop at The Griffin pub.

The event, which took place on Tuesday evening, was designed to share information with parents of children in Reception and Early Years on how they could use the outdoors to support their child’s learning.

Amongst other activities there was leaf mobile making, tower building and lessons on how to create story stones.

Head Teacher, Mrs Donnelly, who suggested the idea, said: “We are always looking for new ways to help support our parents.

"By hosting these events in a neutral, relaxed environment it means people may feel more comfortable to come along and join in.

"The support and feedback we have had tonight has been fantastic. We are very grateful to our friends at the Griffin for letting us use their venue.”

And while the parents were enjoying the workshop at The Griffin their children were being entertained at a special pirate party on the school premises, where they could take part in fun outdoor learning activities.
