A COUPLE have welcomed suggestions from the local community ready for when they take over a traditional pub.

Jacqui Coldron, 56, and Gary Eckley, 57, will be taking on the tenancy of the Green Man pub in The Street, Gosfield on June 1, where they will also live.

Having run the Eagle and Hind pub in Chelmsford for around a year and numerous bars in the Canary Island, the couple feel at home pulling pints.

Miss Coldron said: "We are moving across on June 1 and hopefully taking a couple of days to get things ready and open two days later on the Friday.

"At the moment we are at the Eagle in Chelmsford where we have been for just about a year. We do quite a lot of events here, we have quizzes and live music.

"We even had a carol service and a nativity in the garden which was written by one of our customers and we had a big fancy dress night for New Years Eve where we raised money for Great Ormond Street.

"That's the kind of thing we want to do here, we are very focused on being a community led pub so we are also family, child and dog friendly."

Before The Eagle the pair lived abroad in the Canary Islands where they ran bars before moving back to be closer to their grandchildren.

Miss Coldron is also looking to offer reasonably priced food.

She said: "Gary does the food and we focus on good pub food as well as some home cooked specials at good prices.

"We are a bit nervous because it's further away and we don't know anyone there, but I want it to be very community led and I would love to hear suggestions on what people want to see happening."

The couple will be having an official launch night with a date to be announced.
