Friends of a Hedingham School pupil who died from a brain tumour raised more than £1,000 for a charity set up in his memory.

Arran Tosh, 13, died in June 2014, five days after being diagnosed.

His friends helped to pack bags at Sainsbury’s, in Haverhill (pictured), in aid of the Smile of Arran charity, which raises money for families of children suffering from brain tumours.

Arran’s mum, Alison, said: “Over two days, the customers donated £1,300, which was an amazing amount considering it was just the children packing bags and escorting them out to their cars.”

Mrs Tosh said the town’s Fat Face store also donated and sold charity wristbands.

She also thanked customers of Darkin’s store in Swan Street, Sible Hedingham, who have donated £130 since December by buying cards and wristbands.

The charity is looking for sponsors for its second annual walk around the Isle of Arran during the Highland Games on August 6. Call 01787 580145 or visit smileofarran.org
