A new shop celebrated its opening on Saturday.
Tile shop Cutler’s Ceramics, was opened in The Centre, off of Halstead High Street, by owner Simon Cutler, who also runs Silver End-based Essex Fitters which sells bathrooms and kitchens.
His latest venture will stock different types of tiles.
Shop owner Simon Cutler said: “It was a brilliant opening day with lots of laughs and plenty of sales.
“We're giving away a bottle of prosecco with every sale plus 10 per cent off for the first 50 customers and we only had 28 bottles left on Monday.”
The shop has moved into the building previously occupied by S&M Greengrocer’s, which closed less than six months after opening.
Before that, it was clothes shop Going Underground.
Mr Cutler is confident his shop will be a success.
“The reason we came to Halstead was because my wife was born in Halstead and wanted to come back,” he said.
“We feel very confident here and Halstead is a lovely town.
“It’s a very, very nice size shop.
“We are a bit out of the way, but we are fortunate in that we don’t really rely on passing trade.”
