The 77-year-old Halstead victim of a fatal collision on the B1115 in Great Finborough on Tuesday has been named by police.

Emergency services were alerted just before 2.40pm on Tuesday, to reports of a two vehicle collision between a Range Rover and a Vauxhall Astra on the road about a mile-and-a-half south of Great Finborough at the Water Run.

A passenger in the Astra, Jeanette (Jean) Harrison from Clay Hills, Pebmarsh in Essex, sadly died at the scene.

The drivers of both vehicles – both men in their 70s - were taken to the West Suffolk hospital.

The driver of the Astra sustained a fractured sternum and the driver of the Range Rover sustained minor injuries and both remain in hospital.

Police believe this stretch of road was busy at the time of the incident and are continuing to ask anyone who may have seen either of the vehicles prior to the crash or the collision itself to get in touch as soon as possible.

Officers need to speak to anyone who may have been in this area around 2.30pm - 2.40pm to determine exactly what occurred.

Witnesses are asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Suffolk Police by dialling 101 quoting reference CAD 247 of Tuesday 26 January.
