A group of seven is taking part in a 5k colour rush obstacle course to raise money for a little boy’s physiotherapy.

Five-year-old Harvey Potter has cerebral palsy in all four of his limbs, vision impairment and global development delay His mum, Charlotte Potter, 25, of Coggeshall, said: “I looked into private therapy for Harvey as via the NHS than can only provide a one hour session every eight weeks plus.

“Our goal is for Harvey to attend Kids Physio Works, in Copford, near Colchester, weekly to help him to walk and fulfil his full potential in life.

“Every mum’s dream is to see their child take their first unaided steps and I hope with time and the help of others, Harvey will achieve this wish.”

A five day course with two hours of physiotherapy per day costs £650.

Mum-of-three Kelly Martin, of Stanstead Place, Halstead, is one of those taking part in the run as her son William has Angelman Syndrome, a genetic disorder which affects the nervous system and causes severe physical and intellectual disabilities.

She said: “Charlotte is an amazing friend who like ourselves has a child with special needs.

“They require so much support like physio to really unlock their potential.

“Unfortunately these things don't come free of charge and of course anything that is labelled "special needs" costs a fortune.

“In the past we have had so much help our selves for my son William and in return I like to help others as much as I can.

“Harvey is an amazing little boy who deserves the world.”

The Colour Obstacle Rush - a run complete with obstacle and paint - takes place on May 28 at Kempton Park Racecourse, in Middlesex.
